AT THE LEGISLATURE December 2, 2008
The CNMI House of Representatives will have a session today, Dec. 2, at 1:30pm in the House Chamber. The House is likely to take up the revised budget proposal for FY 2009 at the next session. The bill is still under review and undergoing changes, and the session may be postponed for later this week until the bill is finalized.
[B]Public hearings set[/B]The House has scheduled public hearings on the proposed public land lease for a new 357-room hotel in As Matuis, immediately north of Palms Resort. Flame Sako Resort Hotel & Spa is seeking 109,003 square meters of property for the facility.
The hearings are scheduled for Dec. 9, 6:30pm at GTC Elementary School, and Dec. 10, 6:30pm, at Multi-Ppurpose Center and will be conducted jointly by the House Committee on Natural Resources and the Senate Committee on Resources, Economic Development, and Programs. [B]McPhee-Conway economic report presentation[/B]Malcolm McPhee will be coming to the CNMI to deliver presentations on the economic report that he recently prepared with Dr. Dick Conway for the Governor through a Department of the Interior grant. The presentation for the members of the Legislature, the Governor, and the members of his Cabinet is scheduled for Dec. 9, 2008, at 1:30pm in the Multi-Purpose Center.
