21 artists to join holiday sale this weekend
A total of 21 artists have so far confirmed to participate in the 4th Annual Holiday Artists’ Sale, to be held at the Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe this weekend.
The two-day activity will start at 10am until 7pm on Saturday (Nov. 29) and 10am until 5pm on Sunday (Nov. 30).
On the participants’ list are some of the island’s noted artists like painter Joe Kani (watercolor, acrylic), NMI Museum director Robert Hunter, book author Joe Race, Rino Obar, Greg Elliott, and the young and promising Hermes Diaz.
The others are Debbie Winkfield, Tokie Mojiko, Laura Williams, Chris Kapileo, CC Longfield, Saimon Rayphand, Jill Arenovski, Irineo David, Rayo Christian, Rose Diaz, Kate Fuller, Catherine Anderson, and John Davis.
One of the artists who helped organized the event, Jeanne Rayphand, said four more interested participants have called to reserve a space.
Rayphand, legal counsel of the Northern Marianas Protection and Advocacy Systems Inc., said this event is a way for artists to come together to talk and share their craft.
“Just come and look to discover the talents of local artists,” Rayphand urged.
The artists will be selling their products such as visual arts painting, jewelry, baskets, books and other art crafts.
The $25 fee for a space or $40 for two spaces will be used to pay for use of the Multi-Purpose Center and advertising expenses.
Katharyn Tuten-Puckett is also coordinating the activity.
Rayphand said this is not a fundraising activity and the artists will retain all money received from their sales.
Rayphand said the Student Honor Society of Marianas High School would be having a fundraising by selling foods in front of the center.
Food items will not be allowed inside the center.
Last year’s activity showed a good turnout, with the over 20 artists participating.
