Legislature slips past P & S, 10-9
The Legislature extended its winning run to three after edging Procurement & Supply, 10-9, Thursday in the Budweiser 2008 Inter-Government/Business Softball League Friday night at the Capital Hill Ballfield.
The Lawmakers capitalized on P & S’s errors at the bottom of the sixth to improve to a 3-0 record and share the No. 1 spot in the men’s division along with Freedom Air and defending champion Department of Community and Cultural Affairs.
The Legislature had a 5-run bottom of the sixth and scored all its run on P & S’s fielding and passing errors.
Second baseman Dennis Ngeskebei, catcher George Camacho, shortstop Toi Celis, centefielder Manny Villagomez and rightfielder Paul Lizama scored one run each for the Legislature.
With the Legislature seizing the lead, 10-9, after six complete innings, P & S must score at least one run to extend the game.
But P & S was done after only three batters.
Extra hitter Manny Iguel led off for P & S and was beaten to first base. Another extra hitter—John Tomokane—stepped upto the plate for P & S, but Legislature outfielder Bill Olaitiman caught his fly ball for the second out.
Legislature pitcher Perry Besong ended P & S’s chances to extend the game when he struck out centerfielder Ton Reyes.
Both team struggled at-bat with the Legislature going 14-for-34 for a batting average of .411. P& S recorded a batting average of .352 after hitting 12-for-34.
