Kelvin “The Big Hit” Fitial remains in the fight card of Trench Tech IX: Annihilation despite his recent troubles, according to Trench Tech president and founder Cuki Alvarez.

“Kelvin has been confirmed to fight Trench Warz IX since two months ago and these alleged incidences are all popping up at once. At this point, since he is the semi main event fight, we still plan on allowing him to fight. We are going on the assumption that ‘he is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law,’” he wrote in an email to the Saipan Tribune.

Alvarez said a couple of weeks ago, Fitial was involved in an incident that led to the veteran MMA fighter and former national basketball player serving a 24-hour jail sentence for assault and disturbing the peace.

“Trench Tech does hand down suspensions to competitors who break the law, but mainly for felony offenses. We will wait and see what transpires these next few days and ultimately make a decision on his participation…we are playing the ‘wait-and-see-what-happens’ game at this point. For now, the fight card remains intact and no changes,” added Alvarez.

It was also reported that Fitial has a four-year-old outstanding arrest warrant in California stemming from his burglary conviction in 2003.

In an earlier interview with Fitial’s surrogate mother, Betty Miller said his son’s arrest warrant is a matter that needs to be resolved between the California judge that approved Fitial’s probation and his subsequent return to Saipan and the probation officer, who opposed the ruling and ultimately issued his warrant of arrest.

In Trench Tech IX: Annihilation, Fitial (12 wins, five loses, and two draws) of Marianas Elite will take on Team Zalaka’s Ton “Xclaibur” Nekaifes (no wins, one loss) in a battle of super heavyweights.

It will be followed by the main event featuring Fitial’s stable-mate Myron “The Natural” San Nicolas (six wins, one loss) and Thug Cop’s Manny “The Enforcer” Chong (16 wins, six loses).

Ten other preliminary bouts are scheduled in Trench Tech IX: Annihilation set for Dec. 12 at the Taga Hall of Saipan World Resort.
