The best dance crew in the CNMI will be known tonight when 10 youth groups strut their stuff in the most anticipated dance competition to hit Saipan.

With an entrance fee of just $5, enthusiasts are expected to fill the Marianas High School Gymnasium to the rafters to watch the performances of the 10 competing teams.

Eight teams are from Saipan, while Tinian and Rot will have one each.

To spice up the event, the Marianas College Foundation has invited the stars of KABA Modern, one of the finalists in the MTV competition “America’s Best Dance Crew.” The group is flying in from Guam where they performed for a fundraising event.

The stars of California-based dance group will be performing live and will be judging the local dance competition. The group’s six members are Mike Song, Jia Huang, Cindy Minowa, Tony Tran, Lawrance Kao and Yuri Tag.

The winner of the CNMI’s version of the Best Dance Crew will have the chance to make an appearance in MTV’s next season of the dance competition, according to producer Ed Arriola Jr. He said the winning group will have a chance to fly to Los Angeles and compete in the show.

The show’s third season will be in February next year.

The competing teams are made up of mostly high school and college students.

Tickets are available at PTI Garapan, Mobil Kagman, Power 99 Studios, KWAW 100.3 Studios, Pacific Trading Company and NMC Bookstore.

The event aims to raise funds for the Northern Marianas College and attract more students to the college.

Earlier reports revealed that a big percentage of local students prefer to go to Guam or elsewhere for a college education after finishing their high school term.

Tan Holdings Foundation is one of the main sponsors of the dance competition.

Other major sponsors are PTI, Mobil, Power 99/Sorensen Media Group, Pepsi, KWAW 100.3, Continental Airlines, Hertz, G4S Security, Elite Printing, Sky Castle Limousines, and the Saipan Tribune.
