TUMON, Guam—On April 26, 2008, First Hawaiian Bank and Guam Business named Julienne Rose Perez Duenas, physical therapist and owner/clinical director of S.O.A.R (Sports, Orthopedic and Active Rehabilitation), the winner of the third annual Businesswoman of the Year award. This Maga’haga (Chamorro term for princess) Award recognizes businesswomen who have made a difference and have “raised the bar” in the field in which they are involved.

Proceeds from the awards gala were donated to the University of Guam, the Guam Community College and the Northern Marianas College on Saipan for scholarship programs that encourage students to become successful businesspeople and to contribute to society.

Representatives from both First Hawaiian Bank and Glimpses Publications reviewed the scholarship applications. Applicants for the Businesswoman of the Year scholarship program were judged on grades, involvement in the community and potential to become successful businesspeople.

Two scholarship recipients from the Northern Marianas College will be announced and presented with scholarship checks on Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 1:30pm at the First Hawaiian Bank Gualo Rai Branch on Saipan.

A separate presentation will take place on Guam where seven scholarship recipients from the University of Guam and Guam Community College will be announced and presented with scholarship checks.
