Contest holds grand finals tonight at Club V

The most prestigious singing and popularity contest finals night will be held tonight, Nov. 6, 2008, 8pm at the Club V of Saipan Grand Hotel. The Saipan Singing Superstar is now on its second year, and 16 grand finalists are competing for the title. This activity is a culminating event staged and produced by the Saipan Grand Hotel in cooperation with PTI.

This year’s contest started three months ago at the Southern Cross Bar with more than 40 contestants going through a series of eliminations during the live telecast of the Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 on The Filipino Channel. The Saipan Singing Superstar contest itself was a based on PDA of ABS-CBN in partnership with PTI. After the elimination process, 16 contestants were trained through series of gala and performance nights.

During Week 1’s gala night, the contestants were asked to sing songs of their choice. The second week featured upbeat songs; duet performances were done on the third week.

The fourth and final week, as well as the awards night, will be held tonight. This time, the 16 contestant will do production numbers with backup singers, dancers and medley songs that will highlight them as superstars.

The highest score per week is 15 points, totaling 60 points after four weeks. The remaining 40 points will be based on text voting that will also end tonight after the performances of the 16 contestants. Text vote results can be viewed real time at http://www.pticom.com/sss/.

Tonight will be an evening of multi-faceted talents and live entertainment featuring songs, dances, and production numbers prepared by the contestants.

“I’m so excited because the contestants are now preparing for their grand production number. This show will be lively and will be similar to a variety show on TV,” said Oscar Yema, Saipan Grand’s events and outlet manager.

The show starts at eight o’clock in the evening. Club V doors will open at 7pm. There will be a $5 cover charge with free Alize cocktails. Party follows after the announcement of winners.

The grand prize winner will get a trophy, a plaque, $1,000 cash, and $425 worth of Macatangay Dermhealth Facial package. The PTI Text Star will get a brand new cell phone from PTI. Tonight’s final will be hosted by Brad Ruszala with performances from the SSS 2007 Champions.
