The boys team of Whispering Palms/Brilliant Start and girls squad of the Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School claimed their second win in the Inaugural 2008 NMIFA U12 Interscholastic Football League.

Whispering Palms/Brilliant Star collided with Saipan International School at the Garapan Elementary School Field Wednesday with the former shutting out the Geckos, 3-0.

Harrison Hill made a pair of goals for Whispering Palms/Brilliant Star, while Kenyon Schultz added one to give their team and coach Brenda Schultz their second win in as many games.

Whispering Palms debuted against GTC last week and escaped with a 2-1 victory over the Deer.

Hill also scored in Whispering Palms’ win over GTC, making a goal in the first half off a Kenyon Schultz’s miss. Kennedy Isuka drilled the other goal for Whispering Palms in the second half.

With its 2-0 record, Whispering Palms/Brilliant Star is at the top of the team standings in the Northern Group, which also include Tanapag Elementary School, Garapan, Kagman, and Eucon International School.

The girls team of GTC also improved to a 2-0 record after beating Eucon International School, 2-0. Chelsea Leskosek made both goals for GTC in the second half.

GTC’s win in the girls’ division prevented Eucon from sweeping the two matches played at the Deer’s home field.

Eucon won the boys’ division game, 1-0, on a David Park goal in the first half.

The inaugural U12 league has 17 teams competing for the championship. The participating teams are divided into two divisions.

Games in the U12 league are usually played every Wednesday with the girls’ division match starting at 3:15pm. Game time for the boys’ division is at 4pm. But schedules are subject for changes depending on the availability of the schools.

The U12 league will have a single round-robin format in the regular season with the top two teams in each division moving into the playoffs.
