Playoffs cast in beach volleyball league virtually complete

MHS Peers, MHS Oakies, Karakuchi, and Thai One On fashioned out contrasting wins on Thursday night as the round-robin phase of the Miller Lite Four-Person Beach Volleyball tournament nears its end at the Pacific Islands Club sand court.

The Peers easily won over favorite whipping team MHS 67 Doh-Fins, 21-14, 21-6, 25-24, and secured their hold of third place with a 6-2 win-loss record.

The Doh-Fins remained winless after eight games and are now out in the running for a playoff berth along with MHS Serves Up, and Champ-on.

Only the top eight teams after the elimination round will advance to the playoffs.

With two playing dates left before the playoffs, the cast are now virtually complete with Acme Roofing leading the race with a clean 8-0 record. The other qualifiers are Enyophace second with 7-1, MHS Peers third (6-2), Karakuchi (6-3), Kimoichi (5-3), Thai One On (5-4), Off Twice (4-5), and MHS Oakies (4-4).

MHS Serves Up is in ninth place with a 1-7 record, followed by Champ-on (1-8) and MHS 67 Doh-Fins (0-8).

The Oakies defeated MHS Serves Up in three sets, 21-10, 21-14, 21-15.

Karakuchi prevailed over Kimoichi, 21-15, 21-23, 21-10. In the fourth game, Thai One On bounced back with a 21-9, 21-14, 21-10 victory over Champ-on.

Acme Roofing will seek its ninth win against Serves Up in the penultimate day of eliminations on Tuesday night, Nov. 4. The game will be played at 6:30pm.

Before the Acme Roofing-MHS Serves Up tiff, the first game will have Champ-on battling Doh-Fins at 5:30pm, while the MHS Peers will take on the MHS Oakies at 7:30pm, and Karakuchi will duel Thai One On at 8:30pm.

In the final day of the elimination round on Nov. 6, Acme Roofing and MHS Peers will meet in the nightcap at 8:30pm, while Champ-on will face Doh-Fins at 5:30pm. Off Twice will collide with Serves Up at 6:30pm and Enyophace will square off with MHS Oakies at 7:30pm.
