As the going gets tough, the top teams lost to the underdogs.

For the second straight playing date, Obyan Division leader Primo’s Home Boys dropped their game in the ongoing 2008 Budweiser Open 8-Ball League.

USSP Fotten Palau shrugged off a first round loss to score its biggest win in the tournament against the pacesetting Home Boys, 3-1.

The team of Mie Rengiil, Taylor Watanabe, R.E. Rengiil, Ron Chisato, and John Mongami lost the first round, 33-46, but took the next two rounds with scores of 48-33, 45-34 and total of 123-113.

The Home Boys are still in the lead with 26 wins and 16 losses but the second running Perfect Spotters closed the gap with its 27-17 record following their 3-1 triumph over receding D-Pirates Huwa.

With the victory, Fotten Palau moved up to third place with 23-21, while D’Pirates skidded to fourth with 22-22.

In the other game, VFW Warriors also improved its record via a 4-0 thrashing off Coral Reef Barracuda.

The Warriors are now 17-27 and the Barracudas are 15-29.

In the Agingan Division, tournament leader PTI Voyagers also fell on the wayside and their lead was chopped to a mere one win and one loss difference by their conquerors, the SaipanCell Hustlers, who took the game away with a 3-1 decision.

The Hustlers recovered from a first round loss despite a 35-35 count as they won the next two rounds, 41-32, 37-29 for a total score of 113-96.

The Voyagers are still in the lead with 33-11, while the Hustlers are second with 32-12, Islander Rent A Car is third with 27-17, Godfather’s Rock Steady fourth 15-29, USSP Wat Ever fifth 14-30, and Coral Reef Shark Attack 11-33.
