Joeten Motor Jets roared to a 14-6 upset victory over last year’s runner-up Customs in the second day of action in the 2008 Budweiser Inter-Government/Business Softball League Wednesday night at the Miguel “Tan Ge” Basa Pangelinan Ballfield.

The Jets dashed to a 4-1 lead after two full innings before Customs took to the driver’s seat, 5-4, with four consecutive runs in the top of the third inning. But the Jets charged back with three runs in the bottom fourth, Customs with just one in the fifth and the Jets scored six more in the sixth for the win.

James Hayes went 2-for-3, including two runs and two RBIs; Shine Tenorio had 2-for-2 with an RBI; Dung Tenorio had three runs and an RBI; Mel Tenorio had two runs, while Shane Mendiola, Fred Kaipat, Hecto Efraim added a run each.

Marlon Sablan also came up with two RBIs to help lift the Jets to their first win of the season.

John Reyes led Customs in offense with two runs, including a two-run homerun in the third inning—the third homer this year and the first of two of the night. He also scored the lone run for Customs in the fifth.

The second homerun of the night and the fourth of the season came from Toi Celis that aided Legislature’s nine-run explosion in the bottom fourth in the team’s 16-6 victory over No Zone.

Earlier, Joey de la Cruz posted the first homerun of the season in the second inning of defending champion DCCA’s 15-2 victory over Public School System on Monday night.

The second homer came from Smith Regis in the first inning of PIC’s bitter 11-12 defeat to P&S.

Celis went at bat three times and produced two runs, two hits, one double, one homerun, and three RBIs.

The other players for Legislature coming in with strong performances were Dennis Cabrera with three runs, three hits and two RBIs; Mitch Aaron with two runs; two hits and an RBI; Ben Camacho with one run, two hits, one triple, and three RBIs; Bernard Cabrera with two runs and one hit, and Perry Besong with one run, two hits and one RBI.

In the other game on Wednesday, Freedom Air scored the most lopsided win so far this season—a 9-0 blanking off CUC.

Three other men’s division games were scheduled last night, DLNR vs. DEQ/CRM, Mayors vs. Saipan Cell, and POI vs. CPA.
