Immigration seeks deportation of recidivist
The CNMI government has sought the deportation of a man who has numerous criminal convictions in the CNMI.
The Division of Immigration has filed a deportation case against Lester Serrilo, of Palau.
Serillo was ordered to appear yesterday in the Superior Court to explain why he should not be deported.
Serillo resides in the CNMI pursuant to the Compact of Free Association with the U.S.
Immigration investigator Nicolas T. Reyes stated in court documents that he received information that the respondent has been convicted of two misdemeanor and two felonies—a total of four criminal offenses.
Reyes said Serillo pleaded guilty to assault and battery in a 2000 case and was sentenced to four days.
The respondent was also placed on one-year probation for minor consuming alcohol.
In 2002, Serillo pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property and was given a probation sentence.
In 2004, the respondent pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and battery. He was sentenced to five years in jail without parole.
In 2005, Serillo pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace and was sentenced to six months. The sentence was concurrent with his conviction in the aggravated assault and battery case. (Ferdie de la Torre)
