Total Sports Experience this weekend
Get ready for an exciting family sporting event tomorrow as Coca-Cola Beverage Company (Micronesia), Inc. will hold its “Total Sports Experience” event at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
Held in collaboration with Foremost Foods Saipan, Subway, Sorensen Media Group, All-Star Sporting Goods, and Boarderline, the one-day affair will involve activities in basketball, volleyball, and badminton from 9am to 5pm at the Oleai Sports Complex venue.
“Get ready for an island-wide, sports-filled day of fun, games and prizes. Admission is free—come out, play and interact with local sports organizations on Saipan,” according to organizers of the event. “We are inviting the public to challenge themselves and try a sport they may not have ever tried.”
At the Coca-Cola Total Sports Experience, everyone can try out one or all of the clinics to be run by the Basketball Association of the Northern Mariana Islands, Northern Marianas Badminton Federation, and Northern Mariana Islands Volleyball Association.
The bevy of activities kicks off with a musical performance by three members of the Saipan Southern High School Manta Ray band.
This will be followed by back-to-back exhibition games between the CNMI Men’s Junior National Team and Ol’ Aces in the morning and the CNMI Women’s Junior National Team and another team in the afternoon.
In between, there will be an hour-long clinic where basketball enthusiasts can pick up tips from coaches of the CNMI Junior National Team.
In the afternoon, members of NMIVA will conduct an exhibition game and run a clinic for those who would like to simply learn the basics or to improve their game. NMBF will also hold a clinic from 4pm to 5pm.
Coca-Cola will also introduce Glacéau Vitamin Water to the public with a free sampling of all six flavors available on Saipan—Energy, Revive, Focus, Power, XXX, and Essential.
All day long, Coca-Cola and Power 99 will have trivia contests. Participants who give the correct answers will win Coca-Cola Total Sports Experience event T-shirts.
A Basketball Free Throw Contest would also be held. The winners may bring home sports items courtesy of All-Star Sporting Goods and Boarderline.
Those who are interested in participating in Coca-Cola Total Sports Experience and are at least 18 years old will be required to sign a waiver at the entrance. Participants below 18 years old may join with their parents or guardians signing on the Coca-Cola Total Sports Experience waiver.
Organizers are also encouraging the public to come down and help raise funds for each sports organization. Supporters of the CNMI Junior National Team, Ol’ Aces, NMIVA, and NMBF are encouraged to call the Coca-Cola office at 235-2653 for more information on the fundraising opportunities. (PR)
