Teodoro tops Rumble 7-8-9
Lito Teodoro knocked down 300 pins in his first two games en route to winning Saipan Bowling Association’s Rumble 7-8-9 Bowling Tournament last Sunday at the Saipan Bowling Center.
Taking full advantage of the format, which scored strikes for pinfalls of more than seven in the first game, eight in the second, and nine in the third and final game, Teodoro posted an eye-popping total of 865 to rule the tournament.
His otherwise perfect night was “marred” by the 265 pins he tattooed in the final game following perfect scores in his first and second outings.
Percy Omechelang came in second with a score of 843 built around rolls of 300, 265, and 278. Gina Sablan, meanwhile, matched Teodoro with perfect games in the first two before faltering with a 242 in the third to finish with an 842.
Raymond Angeles tied Sablan with his own 842 pinfalls after coming away with a three-game series of 300, 282, and 280.
The win was worth $300 and a trophy for Teodoro, $100 for Omechalang, and $75 for Sablan. The three also took home in-kind prizes courtesy of the tournament’s generous sponsors.
Richard Leong (841), Ben Aizon (829), Raul Dumapit (827), Raymond Zapanta (811), Dannie Robles (810), and Romy Guevara (809) complete the Top 10 of the Rumble 7-8-9 Bowling Tournament.
SBA treasurer Ross Zapanta said the Rumble 7-8-9 Bowling Tournament was very successful and he expects to organize more tournaments like it soon.
“Because of the bowlers’ support for the tournament, SBA is planning to do more tournaments of the same type in the coming weeks,” he said.
SBA would like to thank SBC, Fiesta Resort and Spa Saipan, Saipan Grand Hotel, D&Q, Micronesian Brokers, Inc., and Eli Arago for donating prizes for the fundraising tournament.
