Insurance firm sues firm, owner over $20,547 debt
An insurance company has sued a company and its owner for allegedly refusing to pay their $20,547 debt.
Royal Crown Insurance Corp. sued Mariana Islands Enterprise Inc. and its owner Chelita B. Romero for breach of contract.
Royal Crown, through counsel Joe Hill, asked the Superior Court to order the defendants to pay the principal amount under the promissory note plus interest, attorney’s fees and court costs.
Saipan Tribune tried to contact Romero for comment, but her telephone number as listed in the directory book is no longer in service.
Hill stated in the complaint that Romero is the president and alter ego of Mariana Islands Enterprise and that she used and spent corporate funds for her own personal use.
Hill said that, on Nov. 29, 2007, Mariana Islands Enterprise and Romero executed to Royal Crown its promissory note in the principal amount of $20,547.
Under the note, Romero promised to pay monthly installment payments of $500 commencing Jan. 1, 2008.
“Defendants have failed and refused after numerous demands being made by plaintiff Royal Crown, to pay any amount on said promissory note and are in default and breach under their said promissory note,” Hill said.
