Brotherhood, PTI strike anew in BASA League
Brotherhood and PTI won over their respective opponents last Sunday to further tighten their grip of the lead in the men’s division of the 2008 Belau Amateur Softball Association slow-pitch league at the Dandan Ballfield.
Jerry Ayuyu, Julian Camacho, Stan Laniyo scored homeruns to cap a 10-run explosion in the second inning that gave Brotherhood a 10-0 victory over unheralded Ngiwal.
The win was Brotherhood’s ninth in 10 games and allowed them to keep the solitary lead. Ngiwal is in 10th place with 1-8 win-loss mark.
PTI also remained in solo second with its 9-2 win-loss record after winning over Man Amigos, 14-6.
Bill Camacho led PTI’s onslaught with three runs, Theo Minor, Roque Camacho, Frank Cruz, and Frank Camacho had two each while Manuel Techur, Wise Aguon, and Isaya Masao chipped in one each.
Joey Dela Cruz homered in the first of his three runs he scored in the game but his effort went for naught as Man Amigos absorbed their third defeat in eight games and stayed in fifth.
Auel Auel moved to third from fourth with its 8-3 card following its 10-0 blanking off Haga-T.
Lucian George, Steven Igisair, and Patrick George reached home plate twice, while Delvin Kadiasang, Melvin Aldan, Martin Ayuyu, and Vince Reyes once for Auel Auel.
Haga-T further skidded to a 2-9 record in ninth place.
In the other exciting game, Choll Aces prevailed over Sai-Pal, 8-3.
The Aces are now 6-4 in fifth spot, while Sai-Pal is 5-6, in a tie with PIC in seventh to eighth places.
Games next Sunday will see the start of the playoffs in the women’s division.
Top ranked Hitters will meet third- running Ohn Sakau at 1pm.
Before that second-ranked Sakudi will square off with fifth-running Atu Asi at 10am.
The current team standings are Hitters (8-1), Sakudi (8-1), Ohn Sakau (4-5), Esta Ombe (3-6), and Atu’Asi (2-7).
Games in the men’s side will feature Man Amigos against SaiPal at 11am, while Choll Aces will face Ready Mix at 12pm, and the pacesetting Brotherhood will battle Man Amigos at 2pm.
