Voyagers pound Shark, Home Boys trip Spotters
PTI Voyagers and Primo’s Home Boys kept their composure as they defeated their rivals in their respective divisions of the ongoing Budweiser Open 8-Ball League.
The Voyagers pounded Coral Reef Shark Attack, 4-0, at home to widen their lead in the Agingan Division. They now tote a 22-2 win-loss record.
The team of Roman Rodriguez, Rolly Villanueva, Amor Zapanta, Jojo Talibong, and Jean Cadag racked up round wins of 44 in the first, 47 in the second, and 42 in the third for a total of 133.
Shark Attack, composed of Vince Mareham, Bill Limes, Patrick Taitano, Ben Norita, and Bernard Kileleman, had rounds of 43, 42, and 40 for a total of 125 in their losing effort.
They are now 4-24 at the bottom of the team standings.
Islander Rent A Car and the SaipanCell Hustlers halved points against their respective rivals to remain in a logjam in second to third places.
Islander and SaipanCell are tied with 18-10 win-loss marks after splitting points with USSP Wat-Ever and Godfather’s Rock Steady, respectively.
Boyet Sequico, Jomer Enriquez, Eric Caisip, Don Antonio, and Joey Cruz had rounds of 38, 50, and 32 for a total of 120 for Islander, while Wat-Ever’s Rose Phillips, Norman Tenorio, Norlos Kapileo, Ed Manucdoc, and Simer Kapileo finished with 44, 27, 47, and 118.
On the other hand, the Hustlers’ Jerry Soriano, Erwin Gomez, John Ricofort, Joey Lucido, and Senen Pangelinan submitted rounds of 37, 47, and 34 for total of 118, while Godfathers’ Gary Pangelinan, Pat Camacho, Bill Pangelinan, Sam Babauta, and Mike Sablan had 40, 31, and 42 for total of 113.
Wat-Ever stayed in fourth place with 9-15 record, while Rock Steady lagged behind in fifth with 9-19.
In the Obyan division, Primo’s Home Boys are on top with 18-10, D’Pirates Huwa second (16-12), Perfect Spotters third (15-13), USSP Fotten Palau fourth (14-14), Coral Barracuda fifth (12-16), and VFW Warriors sixth (9-19).
The Home Boys’ Mario Diola, Nolan Cultura, Franz de Luna, Jorge Lizardo, and Junacho Mendoza beat the Krystal Perfect Spotters, 3-1, after coming in with 40, 32, and 42 for 114 against the opposition’s 35, 39, and 33 for a 107 total.
Fifth-running Barracuda scored the night’s big upset, 3-1, over second-ranked D’Pirates Huwa.
Barracuda’s Ray Basa, Ray Takai, John Camacho, Ed Suzuki, and Gerald DL Guererro closed out with rounds of 40, 54, and 45 for 131, while Huwa had 50, 40, and 36, for 126.
In the other Obyan Division match-up, Fotten Palau posted a similar 3-1 victory over cellar dweller VFW Warriors.
Fotten Palau is composed of Annie Tesiro, Jaylor Watanabe, Mei Rengiil, Ron Chisato, and Ike Rengiil, who came up with 39-45, and 38 for 122. The Warriors had 41, 25, and 34 for a total of 90 in the loss.
