Enyophace rips Off Twice, Acme keeps lead
Acme Roofing won without flexing its muscles while three other teams—Karakuchi, Enyophace, and MHS Oakies—posted victories last Tuesday night in the Miller Lite Four-Person Beach Volleyball League at the Pacific Islands Club sand courts.
Champ-On arrived on time at the PIC court but without a female player thus giving Acme Roofing the outright win.
The two teams used the game as practice session for a while before the rain fell.
Acme Roofing, composed of Larry Shari, Jazz Roscow, Rob Jordan, Luthor Taylor, J.R. Ngeskebei, Elizabeth Hence, Jenni Brown, and Dana McFadden, is now 3-0 following wins in its first two games against Kimoichi last Sept. 23 and Enyophace last Sept. 25.
Due to the forfeiture, Acme Roofing gained 21 points in each set, 21-0, 21-0 and 21-0. Points that a team score in each set has bearings in the modified format.
Despite winning the first two sets, they will still have to play the third set.
Enyophace has the most number of points won after three games with 186, followed by Acme Roofing with 172, while MHS Oakies has 163.
Acme Roofing and Enyophace are tied with the most number of sets won with seven each, Oakies has six, and Karakuchi has five.
Enyophace, bannered by lawyer Bruce Berline, Apple Samson, Ken Tanzawa, Mel Matson, Dan Westfall, Brandon Chargualaf, Shiela Figuerorao, and Toi quickly bounced back with a 21-7, 21-11, and 21-16 victory over Off Twice.
The win was Enyophace’s second in three starts, while Off Twice suffered its first defeat in two games.
Karakuchi is the other team with a perfect record, so far, after two assignments.
Comprised of Rob Epley, Marino Pungilung, Kirk Schuler, Carie Schuler, Sujung Lee, Ann Munoz, Macoy Aguda, and Bernie Tarobul, Team Karakuchi overpowered MHS Serves Up!, 21-8, 21-6, 21-16.
MHS Oakies, composed of John Nekaifes, Typhoon Saito, Jordan Marciano, Barry Mality, Charnessa Lizama, Mildred Kintol, and Heartim Williams, also recovered with a two-set victory over MHS 67 Doh-Fins via a 21-15, 21-19, 19-21 count that created a two-way tie between Enyophace and MHS Oakies, who have similar 2-1 records.
