Registration for govt/business softball ongoing
Registration for the upcoming Inter-Government/Business League Softball League is now ongoing, the Division of Sports and Recreation announced yesterday.
League coordinator Joey Dela Cruz said there would be two divisions—men’s and women’s—for this season to be held at the Miguel “Tan Ge” Basa Pangelinan Ballfield.
Organizers are inviting the private sector to participate in this annual tournament, which opening ceremony will be on Oct. 27.
The deadline of submission of entries and payment registration fee will be on Oct. 22 and entrance fee for both divisions is set at $400.
A total of 19 teams joined the previous tournament last April.
Department of Community and Cultural Affairs won both the men’s and women’s division titles.
DCCA’s men’s squad, which went undefeated in the regular season (18-0), scored a punishing 43-11 win against Aguaguat, while its women’s team swept Northern Marianas College-Proa in their three-game series, 18-14, and 13-10, last April 11.
Aguaguat was the runner-up in the pennant race and placed second to DCCA in the championship. PSS placed third in the finals after losing to Aguaguat in the semifinals.
There will be three games per night, which will be held every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday starting at 6:30pm for the first game, 7:30pm for the second game, and 8:30pm for the third game.
The league will be a single-round robin format with the Top 10 teams advancing to a double elimination second round format.
Dela Cruz said there would be a meeting of team representatives on Oct. 7 starting at 9:30am at the Ada Gym conference room.
Games for the women’s division will be played every Monday and Friday starting at 7:30pm.
The regular season will be three rounds while the playoffs will be a double elimination affair.
