Off The Beaten Path, a local non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for various charitable causes, will be hosting a golf tournament that would benefit the Commonwealth Health Center Volunteers Association.

The tournament, which will be the group’s first golf fundraiser, will be held at the Laolao Bay Golf Resort in Kagman on Oct. 18.

Tickets are $100 and can be purchased from any CHC Volunteer or OBP members. For more information, contact Alex Sablan at saiship@pticom.com or email obpcnmi@gmail.com.

OBP public relations officer Francine Sablan said the CHC volunteers are raising funds to purchase critically needed medical equipment for the hospital.

Sablan said that the CHC-VA is an integral component of CNMI’s health care system and has contributed substantially to the ability of the CHC to offer quality medial care to the people.

“Our goal is to assist the CHC Volunteers Association with raising funds to purchase a Spiral CT scan machine and a hyperbaric chamber for CHC,” Sablan said.

Sablan said the CHC volunteers had worked tirelessly to extend financial support to the CHC, including the health centers on Rota and Tinian.

Through its fundraising activities, the volunteers were able to purchase several vital medical equipment such as two mammograms, an infant hearing screener and an eight-bed telemetry system.

These also include a video monitoring system in the ICU for up-to-date patient care, colonoscope, stenoscope, C-arm Surgical System, fiber optic bronchioscope, wheelchairs, and recliner chairs for hemo-dialysis patients.

Most recently, the association purchased a computer system that allows the immediate view of X-rays by doctors to benefit CHC patients and the community.

OBP hopes to see everyone at the tournament “for a friendly game of golf, a good time, and most importantly, to help the CHC volunteers with their mission of helping CHC improve the quality of health care in the CNMI.”
