Acme Roofing nailed its second straight victory over Enyophace, 21-17, 21-17, 12-21, last Thursday night to seize the solo lead in the 2008 Miller Lite Four-Person Beach Volleyball League at the Pacific Islands Club sand courts.

The victory followed Acme Roofing’s 3-1 win over Thai On One in the opening day of action last Tuesday when it overcame a first set loss to prevail in three sets, 13-21, 21-8, 21-19.

In contrast this time, the team of Larry Shari, Jazz Roscow, Rob Jordan, Luthor Taylor, J.R. Ngeskebei, Elizabeth Henke, Jenni Brown, and Dana McFadden took the first two sets for the outright win though they dropped the third set.

Acme Roofing, which scored a total of 109 points so far, will face Champ-On next Tuesday, Sept. 30.

Three other teams, Karakuchi, Thai On One, and MHS Peers, defeated their respective opponents to barge into the win column.

Karakuchi, composed of Rob Eply, Marino Pungilung, Kirk Schuler, Carie Schuler, Sujung Lee, Ann Munoz, Macoi Aguda, and Bernie Tarobul, debuted with a 12-21, 21-12, 21-12 win against MHS 67 Doh-Fins, which created a two-way tie between Karakuchi and opening day winner Off Twice.

But Karakuchi is in second after scoring more points, 58, as against the 54 of third-running Off Twice.

Thai One On recovered from a first set loss before easily taking the last two sets for an 18-21, 21-10, 21-14 win over MHS Oakies.

Four teams are currently locked with 1-1 slates, including Thai One On, MHS Oakies, Enyophace, and MHS Peers.

Following their defeat in the opening round to Off Twice, MHS Peers bounced back against Kimoichi in straight sets, 21-13, 22-20, 21-18.

MHS Peers are bannered by Tamino Nartin, Frandolee Tito, Azumi Ishida, Thedora Lizama, Joemil Lisua, and Jeff Bacani.

Despite the loss to Acme Roofing, Enyophace is the current leader in most points scored after two outings with 118. Acme Roofing has 109, Thai On One compiled 108, MHS Peers 103, and MHS Oakis 102.

Kimoichi further skidded to 10th place with 0-2.

The only team which did see action is MHS Serves Up!. It will begin its campaign against Thai On One on Sept. 30.

Champ On and MHS 67 Doh-Fins have similar 0-1 markings.

Games are being played every Teusday and Thursday at the PIC beach volleyball court starting at 5:30pm.
