11 teams join Miller Lite 4-person beach volleyball

A total of 11 teams will be competing in the 2008 Miller Lite 4-person Beach Volleyball League, which will kick off on Sept. 23 at the Pacific Islands Club beach volleyball court.

The list include Off Twice, Enyophace, MHS Peers, MHS Oakies, MHS Serves UP, and MHS 67 Doh-Fins. Five others have yet to decide the names for their teams, though they have already submitted their roster of players.

Each team has eight players bringing the total of participants to 88.

Four games will be played every Tuesday and Thursday with the opening to start at 5:30pm,

The league will run until Nov. 6 with the playoffs to be held on Nov. 11 and Nov. 13.

The top eight teams after the regular season will qualify for the playoffs which will have a single-elimination format.

The No. 1 team will meet the No. 8 squad, No. 2 vs. No. 7, No. 3 vs. No. 6, and No. 4 vs. No. 5.

Major sponsors for this year’s tournament are PIC, PTC, Miller Light, Propel, and Pepsi.

The MHS Okies and Team No. 4 will kick off the hostilities in the 11-team tournament as they duel in the first game on Tuesday.

Other games on the opening day are Off Twice vs MHS Peers; Team No. 2 vs Team No.7; and Team No. 3 vs Enyophace.

Last Thursday night organizers held a draft to determine the composition of each team. The following are the rosters of the 11 participating squad:

Team 1: Rob Epley, Marino Pungilug, Kirk Schuler, Carie Schuler, Sujung Lee, Ann Munoz, Macoy, and Bernie Tarobul.

Team 2: KC Pungilug, Scott Eck, Laurie Peterka, Natalie Hill, Nick Swaim, Jeff, Mel Borja, and Tiew Wilson.

Team 3: Jessica Uematsu, Kegn Hall, Keoni Ichihara, Jeff Cloud, Clark Boswell, Marley Buchun, Nicole French, and Louise Oakley.

Team 4: Mika Okubo, Lucky, JR Gechig, Scotty Silva, Gin Gridley, Edwin Paasian, Stee Nutlling, and Jhie Vallo.

Off Twice : Lindsey Sosovec, Rex, Alex Hammet, Jay Kang, Amanda Armstrong, Amie McRoberts, Angie Perez, Autumn Beechler, and Youme Sharry.

Enyophace: Bruce Berline, Apple, Ken Tanzawa, Mel Matson, Dan Westpal, Brandon Chargualaf, Shiela Figueroa, and Toi.

Team 7: Larry Sharry, Jazz Roscow, Rob Jordan, Luther Taylor, Gordon Semen, Elizabeth Henke, Jenni Brown, and Dana McFadden.

MHS Peers: Tamino Nartin, Frandolee Tito, Azumi Ishida, Theodora Lizama, Joemil Lisua, and Jeff Bacani.
