The 15th Annual Rota Blue Triathlon will be held bright and early on Nov. 16 beginning at 6:30am in the southernmost chain of the CNMI.

The Rota Blue Triathlon consists of two events—both include a swim, a bike, and a run course.

Type A requires participants to swim 1.5 kilometers, bike the distance of 40 kilometers, and run the remaining distance of 10 kilometers.

Type B, meanwhile, will be a 2-km swim, a 90-km bike course, and a 21-km run. Both courses start at the entrance of the Rota Airport and finish at the Roundhouse. The Department of Public Safety will provide safety for athletes during the swim portion of the race.

“Over the years, the Rota Blue Triathlon has become an event that brings many athletes to the island of Rota,” said Marianas Visitors Authority managing director Perry Tenorio. “Each year this event has gained international attention and has served to showcase the many sport related opportunities the island has to offer. We are pleased to have another successful coordination of this sporting event. This year, we are anticipating participants from Guam, Japan, and elsewhere in Asia.”

The entry fee for the Type A solo triathlon (all three events) is $80 (no time limit), Type B solo triathlon (all three events) is $100 (time limit is eight hours), while the Type A Team Triathlon is $210 for a team of three or $140 for a team of two (no time limit).

Entry fee includes an event T-shirt, awards banquet entry, and a guaranteed great time. Top prizes also await the Top 3 finishers in the men’s and women’s categories. The annual Rota Blue Triathlon is one of four major triathlon events held in the CNMI—the others being the XTERRA Saipan Championship, Tagaman Triathlon, and the Tinian Turquoise Blue events.

The annual Rota Blue Triathlon is sponsored yearly by the KFC (Kiyokazu Fitness Club) Triathlon of Japan, MVA, the Rota Mayor’s Office, CNMI government departments and agencies, and the people of Rota.
