Pacesetter Southern Sonics posted one of their easiest victories to date and stretched their winning streak to six Thursday night in the ongoing Saipan Rotary Club 18-under Youth Basketball League at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

Reliables Bryan Ajoste, Lawrence Echon, and Mike Eclevia scored in double digits to lead the Sonics to a lopsided 70-50 win over the G-Rollers I.

Ajoste finished the game with 15 points, Echon chipped in 13, and Eclevia added 11. Manny Matagolai and Don Teregoyo, meanwhile, led the G-Rollers I with 16 and 13 points, respectively.

It was complete domination for the Sonics right from the get-go and they established a 14-point lead at halftime, 30-16.

That gap was well protected in the second half as the Sonics had a 55-41 lead, the closest the G-Rollers I would come to the Sonics’ lead with four minutes left to play.

Ecalnea and Ajoste also had the time to showboat in the game as the Sonics never let-up and built their biggest lead, 64-44, in the final two minutes.

Ecalnea powered his way to the hoop with a layup followed by another inside penetration by Ajoste.

Ecalnea competed a three-point play again as he fished a foul from Fredo Paez while driving to the basket. The loss was the G-Rollers’ second in four outings.

Southern Sonics 70 – Ajoste 15, Echon 13, Eclevia 11, Metran 8, Ecalnea 8, Salas 5, Masga 4, De La Cruz 3, Cajap 2, Galarse 2, Cadiang 2

G-Rollers I 50 – Matagolai 16, Teregoyo 13, Danas 10, Concepcion 7, Castro 4

Scores by halves: 30-16, 40-24.
