Answer:
b. You need an avocado pit, a couple of toothpicks and a glass of water.
Every plant, no matter how big or small, helps to make our air cleaner and our earth greener.
Plants, animals and people all need each other. Plants make the oxygen that people and animals breathe; people and animals exhale the carbon dioxide that plants need to live.
Everyday somebody somewhere is taking down trees and plants to make room for homes, businesses, streets or parking lots. Therefore, it is up to us to maintain the balance of planting as fast as we tear down.
Starting a container garden in your home or on the patio is simple. Here are some steps to get you started: * Decide what you want to grow. Herbs, flowers, and salad greens are easy to grow in sunny climates. Purchase the seeds a nursery or hardware store. You may also want to buy some potting soil and a little plant food;
* Reuse 5-galloon container, large coffee can or if you prefer, a clay pot, wooden container, or anything you have on-hand and want to reuse and can poke holes in the bottom so water can drain out. Ensure there is enough space for soil as indicated in the type of seed you’ll be planting (read directions on the seed packet);
* Line the container with old newspapers so that soil does not escape when you water. Next, fill the container to the top with soil. Water the soil to allow it to settle in the container. Put a dish under the container to catch the water that drains out of the soil;
* Plant the seeds as directed on the packet. Be mindful of the different depths for different plants;
* Pat the soil down gently, and water the soil again, being careful not to disturb the tiny seeds. It’s best to use a soft, fine spray from a watering can or spray bottle;
* Check the soil regularly (or as directed on the packet);
* Feed your plants every 2 weeks or as directed on the packet with plant food; and
* Keep your plants happy by making sure they have enough water, sunlight and plant food. You’ll not only be happier by growing healthy plants, but you’ll be making the earth a little greener. (COCO)
