Entry fee for Saipan Cell/PCA softball is reduced
The Palau Community Association reduced by half the original $400 registration fee for the SaipanCell/PCA Slow-pitch Softball Tournament after most teams complained that they could not afford it.
PCA president Rufino Aguon said they have decided to cut the fee to just $200 and also the prize for the champion from $1,000 to $500.
As of yesterday noon, six teams have already confirmed to join the tournament to be held in two weekends, Sept. 20-21 and Sept. 27-28, at the Dandan Ballfield.
“We are still accepting more teams. Hopefully, we would be able to have more than that by Friday,” Aguon said.
Brian Adelbai of the Belau Amateur Softball Association said they have cancelled their scheduled games for the ongoing Budweiser BASA slow-pitch softball league to give way to the Saipan Cell/PCA event.
He said BASA games will resume Oct. 5.
Interested teams have until 5pm today to register and submit their roster of players for the Saipan Cell/PCA tournament.
Forms can be obtained at the Northern Marianas College Gymnasium.

PCA is targeting 8-12 teams that will play in a double-elimination format. Each team will have a maximum of 15 players.
All players and/or members must sign a waiver form. Failure to sign will result in the player not being eligible to play.
ISF Rules will be used, except there will be no homeruns allowed, as a homerun will be considered an out.
