It was a no-sweat win for Brotherhood, while co-leader Auel Auel won easily in last Sunday’s games of the 2008 Belau Amateur Softball Association Slow-pitch Softball League at the Dandan Elementary School Ballfield.

The two teams remained tied on top with identical 7-1 records. They have three more games left in the first elimination round.

Auel Auel leaned on a solid defense to score a 5-0 victory against the Choll Aces.

Emery Cruz singled to send home Melvin Aldan, while Martin Ayuyu scored on an error to give Auel Auel a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning.

Vince Reyes, Aldan, and Ayuyu also made three runs in the fourth for Auel Auel as the Choll Aces were bothered by the tough defense could not even reach first base until the fourth.

Auel Auel’s Steven Igisam allowed only five hits, struck out one batter as his team finished off the Choll Aces with 1-2-3 groundouts on five of seven innings.

The Choll Aces reached only five times into first base, thrice to second and once to third by Mike Palacios in the sixth inning.

With the loss, the Choll Aces further slipped to seventh place with a 4-4 card in the 11-team field tournament.

In one of two games won via forfeiture, PIC (4-5) did not show-up for its scheduled game, which benefited co-leader Brotherhood.

Fifth-running Ready Mix also celebrated without flexing its muscles as opponent Ngiwal failed to show-up.

It was the fifth win in seven games for Ready Mix, while dealing Ngiwal its sixth defeat in seven outings.

In another game, Man Amigos (5-2) established an 8-1 lead in the bottom of the second inning en route to a 13-6 triumph over the Koror Bombers.

PTI won the day’s most lopsided contest, a 10-0 count against the tournament’s favorite whipping boys Tanapag Falcons.

PTI has improved to a 7-2 record in third place while the Falcons remained winless after nine assignments.
