Hirshbein asks employers to follow-up applications
Department of Labor Director Barry Hirsbein yesterday encouraged employers to follow up their applications to hire alien workers so Labor can immediately determine if there are problems.
Hirshbein told Saipan Tribune that the Labor and Immigration Identification System (LIIDS) is currently scanning applications into the automation system that were filed on Sept. 12, 2008.
He said at Labor Processing Section they were reviewing those applications yesterday.
“We are caught up with all the pending applications,” the director said.
He suggested all employers to check with Immigration to see if their applications are complete or deficient.
Employers, Hirshbein said, may also go to the Labor website at www.marianaslabor.net to check the deficiency and denial listings.
“If your applications are not in the pending or deficient or denial then you should contact us so we can see what the problem is with the particular application,” he pointed out.
The director said it is possible that some applications can be found in the automation system, but have not yet been reviewed.
“It is a very small number. But we would like to hear from employers if your application is not been reviewed and approved or denied,” Hirshbein added.
