The Division of Sports and Recreation announced yesterday that there would be a meeting on Sept. 23 of representatives from the different teams that will play in the upcoming Inter-Government Softball League.

The event is tentatively scheduled on the first week of October but the exact date will be known and finalized during the meeting, which will be at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium conference room starting a 9:30am.

A total of 19 teams joined the previous tournament last April.

Department of Community and Cultural Affairs won both the men’s and women’s division titles of last season’s competition.

DCCA’s men’s squad, which went undefeated in the regular season (18-0), fashioned out a punishing 43-11 victory against Aguaguat, while its women’s team swept Northern Marianas College-Proa in their three-game series, 18-14, and 13-10, on April 11.

Aguaguat was the runner-up in the pennant race and placed second to DCCA in the championship. PSS placed third in the finals after losing to Aguaguat in the semifinals. (Nazario Rodriguez Jr.)
