Sachiko Adachi bested 23 other lady par busters to rule the CNMI Women’s Golf Association September Ace of the Month Tournament Saturday at the Coral Ocean Point course.

Adachi shot a net 69 for a four-stroke win over second placer Eun Ae Chang, who had a net 73. Completing the Top 5 were Aya Matsumoto (75), Ukita Terue (76), and Noriko Togawa (76).

Winning this month’s Ace was a significant improvement for Adachi after placing 11th and scoring a net 83 in the August tournament. The 24-handicaper Adachi fired a 46 and 47 on the front and back nines, respectively, for a gross 93 in last weekend’s tournament.

Chang, who has a 19 handicap based on the USGA handicapping system, scored a 47 on the front nine and improved her game on the back with a 45 for a gross 92.

Matsumoto, a 13-handicapper, made 44 on both nines for a gross 88, while the 21-handicapper Terue was also consistent at the Agingan Point-based course, shooting a 48 on both nines for a gross 96.

The two-handicapper Togawa recorded the lowest gross in the tournament with a six-over 78, as she tamed the COP course with a two-over par 38 on the front and four-over par 40 on the back.

Making it to the Top 10 were Yuko Togawa (76), Yi Su Jeong (77), Lou Kim (79), Doll Yamagishi (79), and Kimiko Abe (80).

Others who joined last weekend’s tournament, but failed to enter the Top 10 were Ching Lin Wang (81), Shiori Onoue (83), Margaret Tenorio (91), Bennet Seman (84), Lorraine A. Babauta (86), Matilde Hocog (80), Kyung A Yang (84), Masayo Miyamoto (85), Terry Tudela (88), Young Mi Ham (93), and the club’s newest member Xiao Ling Wang (95).

Jung A Kim and Sujie Guzman scored a net 73 and 78, respectively, but were ranked last as they failed to submit their scorecards.

CWGA is only on its second season after the club was organized in March 2007 to promote, encourage, and introduce women to golf.
