Palau Community Association president Rufino Aguon announced yesterday that there would be a mandatory meeting of representatives from the different teams that are joining next week’s Saipan Cell/CPA Softball Tournament.

The meeting will be held at the Northern Marianas College Gym on Monday, Sept. 15, starting at 5pm and will discuss the schedule of games and tournament format.

The annual tournament is a fundraising activity of PCA.

Defending champion Yes for Casino is expected to participate again in the four-day event to be held on two weekends, Sept. 20-21 and Sept. 27-28, at the Dandan Ball Field.

Entrance fee will be $400.

A cash prize of $1,000 will be up for grabs this year plus a trophy to the champion team.

Organizers are anticipating a minimum of eight and maximum of 12 teams for the tournament.

Today, Sept. 12, is the deadline of submission of entries.

The Saipan Cell/CPA Softball Tournament will be a double elimination format and each team will have a maximum of 15 players.

All players and/or members must sign the attached waiver form and failure to sign will result in the player not being eligible to play.

ISF rules will be used, except there will be no homeruns allowed. A home run will be considered an out.

For payments, please contact the following PCA members: Rufino Aguon 234-5498 ext. 2500 (NMC Gym); Norman Mobel 322-9707 (Saipan Shipping); Eileen Kintol 235-6804 (Palau Consulate); and Brian Adelbai, 234-8438 (Pacific Postal Plus).
