Let there be light
I, along with Ed Propst, are inviting the public to join in for the protest to be held on Sept. 17, 2008 at 5:30pm at the Garapan Fishing Base. Please bring a candle and wear a black shirt to represent darkness.
Let’s honor our ancestors by showing action and not just talk. Let’s stop talking about the government and start doing something about it. We must not suffer anymore. We must not let our children suffer anymore. It is a call to action for the betterment of society.
We are calling every father, mother, and child. Calling on all small and large business owners, the employed or unemployed. All types of religious groups, retirees, all people from Micronesia, Polynesia, and Melanesia. All people from different walks of life to stand up against the government’s, CUC’s, and lawmakers’ bad decision-making policies. We are calling on the Republicans, Democrats, Reform, and Covenant parties to participate.
We have forgiven the Covenant voters for they did not know they were going to be deceived. Let’s make the right choices by joining in and make history together. I understand you were promised better times. But you know what? We can make things better by standing up against corruption. We must move forward before the light gets any dimmer. We are calling on people from all over the globe that are residing here in the CNMI that you are welcome to join. Every single one of us is feeling the pinch in their pockets.
Tinian and Rota, we are here to represent you for we are brothers and sisters suffering on a daily basis. We are one CNMI. This is a cause that will expose this tiny island to the rest of the world that we are victims of corruption. It is time for our voices to be heard once and for all. We can no longer tolerate this type of abuse on innocent people. We are all in this together to open up a new chapter in the CNMI’s history for a better tomorrow. We must all unite and set aside differences for this is something that we all agree on to fight for.
To the general public: We are not betraying the local government. We are showing the world that our local government has betrayed us. It’s time to kick doors down. To move two steps forward and not 10 steps back. We will be heard and we will be helped. No one ever said that the generators are rent-to-own. No one ever said there will always be money to pay Aggreko. Let’s be 10,000-strong. Let there be light!
