A 12-year-old boy was slightly hurt after a car hit him as he was crossing Middle Road near the Commonwealth Health Center in Garapan Wednesday afternoon.

The boy had minor abrasions on his left shin. He was later released after receiving treatment at CHC, according to the Department of Public Safety yesterday.

DPS spokesperson Lei Ogumoro said no one was cited as speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash.

Ogumoro said the weather was clear and the road surface was dry at the time.

She said the boy did not use the marked crosswalk to cross the highway.

Police received a report on Wednesday at 4:43pm of an auto-pedestrian crash along Middle Road or Chalan Pale Arnold near CHC.

Ogumoro said preliminary investigation showed that a white Ford sedan, driven by 38-year-old Ricardo L. Kaipat, was heading north on the inner lane along Middle Road near the Navy Hill-CHC traffic light intersection.

The boy then crossed the highway from the northbound shoulder and was struck by the car on the inner northbound lane.

Medics responded and transported the boy to CHC for further observation and treatment.
