Over the past year, Floyd Masga has donated a number of historical items to the CNMI Museum. These have included Japanese peso notes, and early 20th century publications featuring the CNMI.

Masga recently donated two more items to the museum. One is an August 1945 edition of the Saipan Beacon, a publication produced by the U.S. Military Command on Saipan. The publication featured an assortment of news of the war and news from back home for the consumption of U.S. military forces in the Pacific. The old Navy Hill Lighthouse was used as the logo image for the paper.

Masga’s other donation is a November 1945 National Geographic magazine featuring 17 paintings of the Marianas by Navy Combat artist Lt. William Franklin Draper. The images include sea and land battles on and around Saipan, the aftermath of the campaign, and local survivors.
