Boycott classes!

I, like any other parent, would like to request the Board of Education to delay the start of classes slated to open on Sept. 8, 2008. Although this letter may came late, something could still be done to reverse the opening of classes. The opening of classes should resume until such time BOE can assure that schools would be spared from power outages.

Recent study shows that lack of rest disrupts blood flow to the brain. The brain, the most important tool in life, must not be compromised in any way. This is not what we want our children’s body to experience at such a fragile age. Lack of rest can hinder the ability of every child to focus. What makes the Public School System think that students can learn outdoors? Do you think they will pay attention to the instructor or pay attention to who’s across the campus? Everyone will be outside, of course.

The same goes for adult employees who go to work with lack of rest. The ability of the individual will not be up to par. The productivity will not be to the employers’ liking. I suggest that all parents should voice out and observe a boycott (not let your child go to school) until Sept. 22 or until such time CUC is in a stable condition.

I appeal to BOE and PSS administrators to have a heart. BOE and PSS have always said they care for the learning and safety of every child. So where’s the care? Where’s the love?
