Belau league: Taisakan 2-run homer powers Auel Auel past PTI, 11-10
Leftfielder Ben Taisakan scored a two-run homer in the seventh inning that lifted Auel Auel to an 11-10 triumph over a stunned PTI team in last Sunday’s resumption of the 2008 Belau Amateur Softball Association Men’s and Women’s League at the Dandan Elementary School ballfield.
Before that, Auel Auel rallied from a 6-10 deficit after Wise Aguon scored PTI’s 10th and final run of the game on a single by Theo Minor.
Lucian George, Delwin Kadiasang, and Mike Taitano scored in succession then Taisakan found the right time to score the huge homerun that also sent Stan Aldan to home plate for the clincher.
In the other games of the men’s division, Man Amigos, PIC, and SaiPal also prevailed against their respective opponents and kept their track going.
Man Amigos exploded for six runs right on top of the first inning en route to a 15-3 win over the Falcons.
Vinnie Sablan, Mike Sablan, Joey de la Cruz, Nick Castro, Mark Flores, and Jonathan Tenorio sparked the scoring rampage for Man Amigos, who continued to dominate the game despite a solo homerun by the Falcons shortstop B.J. Guerrero at the bottom of the first.
Man Amigos scored four more runs in second, one in the third and four in the fifth.
The third baseman De la Cruz went 4-for-4 including a solo homerun at the bottom of the third.
B.J. Guerrero and Jay Camacho reached home plate in the sixth but that was the best the Falcons could do in the game.
Nine batters scored for PIC at the top of seventh inning leading to a 19-9 win over Haga-T, which failed to recover by scoring only a run by Arnel Takai at the bottom of seventh.
SaiPal also won via forfeiture against the no show Bombers.
In the women’s side, the Hitters defeated Sakudi, 12-7.
