The CNMI Junior Nationals vented their ire on the G-Rollers II, routing their hapless foes, 84-38, in the 2008 Saipan Rotary Club Youth Basketball League Friday night at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

The Junior Nationals lost their debut to perennial rival the Southern Sonics, 64-71, during the season-opening game of the 18-and-under caging, three weeks ago.

The Rufino Aguon-coached squad was supposed to play its second game against the G-Stars, but the match was called off due to miscommunications about the match schedule.

Lucky for the G-Stars, they escaped the wrath of the Junior Nationals.

The G-Rollers II did not, as they were on the receiving end of the Junior Nationals’ frustration from the opening-day loss to the Sonics.

Jerich Cruz had 20 points in their debut, but had to bleed for his points against the Sonics. In the Junior Nationals match versus the G-Rollers II, Cruz had less troubles scoring against the G-Rollers II’s defense or the lack of it. He finished with 30 points.

Marvin Rabauliman, who also had 20 points in their first game, added 14, while Allen Moses contributed 13. Joseph White, one of the newcomers for the Junior Nationals, continued to prove his worth on the team, drilling 13 markers. He also scored in double figures against the Sonics, making 10 markers.

Despite the Junior Nationals taking control of the game in the first half, the G-Rollers II trailed by still a manageable margin at halftime, 23-39.

But the second half was a different story with the Junior Nationals asserting their offensive might against the G-Rollers II, who had only four players making it onto the scoreboard.

Jerry Mabini drilled 21 points, while Eugene Manglona scored 10. Jesse and Anthony Santos combined for only seven points.

CNMI Jr. Nationals 84 – Cruz 30, Rabauliman 14, Moses 13, White 13, Villagomez 7, Castro 4.

G-Rollers II 38 – Mabini 21, E. Manglona 10, J. Santos 4, A. Santos 3.

Scoring by halves: 39-23, 84-38.

Referees: Connie Camacho and Gilbert Espinosa.
