HAGÅTÑA, Guam—First Hawaiian Bank is donating furniture from its old Tamuning Branch to Mount Carmel School, according to an announcement yesterday by First Hawaiian Bank’s senior vice president, Guam and CNMI region manager, Laura-Lynn Dacanay.

“On behalf of our students, faculty, staff and parents, I want to thank First Hawaiian Bank for its contribution and support,” said Michael Phillips, MCS Foundation chair. “Our school has come so far in the last year — this gift of furniture is much needed and appreciated. We are grateful that First Hawaiian is a company that reaches out to help those in need in our community.”

“First Hawaiian Bank is proud to be supporting Mount Carmel School with this furniture donation,” says Dacanay. “Our bank is celebrating its 150th Anniversary this year and this donation continues the philanthropic tradition started by our founding father, Charles Reed Bishop, who dedicated his life to improve the lives of others and to create enriching educational opportunities for children.”

Mount Carmel School, a non-profit organization, is the only Catholic elementary and middle school in Southern Guam and serves the villages of Piti, Santa Rita, Agat, Umatac, Inarajan, Talofofo and Merizo. This year, the school is celebrating its 50th year of providing extraordinary education.

First Hawaiian Bank (www.fhb.com) with assets of $12.75 billion was founded in 1858 and is Hawaii’s oldest and largest bank. This year the bank is celebrating 150 years in business, including 38 years on Guam. It has 58 branches in Hawaii, three on Guam and two on Saipan. (FHB)
