Twilight Zone
The current issues we face feels like we are living in the twilight zone. Fitial wants to waste $50,000 a month on a useless lawsuit against the feds. Why not use that money to benefit the community instead? It’s a good thing the feds are taking over, because they can manage to keep accountability, unlike the CNMI government (CUC example). Because of federalization, we will now be getting our very own delegate. Residents will now have a better chance of getting jobs as well because nonresidents have to exit. There are not enough jobs for all of us. Marianas Trades Institute will prepare our residents for vocational jobs.
Majority of the lawmaker you voted for are against Tina Sablan for trying to identify problems. They fail to realize that in order to identify a solution, you must first identify the problem. I just wish more of them were like Tina in this aspect. A big problem is that many of them have been in office too long that they don’t have an outsider’s perspective. Many successful businesses hire CEOs from outside the company in order to get an outsider’s perspective. Because when you are in the same position for so long, you fail to see what is really happening because you get stuck in the same mode of thinking after a while. Get those old fogies out of the Legislature and bring in some new, fresh thinkers.
We would not be having constant outages right now if CUC had taken up the offer from Telesource. Tinian has more power than they need. Telesource offered to ship the generator to Saipan, which is just a boat ride away. Instead, CUC decides to take on more debt by signing with Aggreko. Businesses now have to pay $900 to install power. I had to pay $931. The power rates are already going up because of gas prices, and now they will go up even further to pay the millions that they plan on giving Agrekko. CUC had refused to report their delinquent accounts to credit reporting agencies. They can collect millions of dollars by doing so. Another reason why we are suffering is because the governor just keeps appointing friends to important positions at government agencies. He does not make decisions wisely because he likes to appoint his unqualified friends who have no experience in the fields they are appointed for. It really sucks for those who have obtained a higher education (thanks to the CNMI scholarship and SHEFA) to come back out here and not get hired because of no connections. No wonder why many students don’t come back after getting degrees.
In Kagman, we have been having three power outages every night when we are trying to get rest for work. We can’t even do laundry when the power does turn on because there is either no water or the pressure is just too low. Villagomez needs to step down if he really did all those dirty deals to get rich quick. That $300,000 he supposedly misspent could have been used to fix these damn generators. This is only icing on the cake. This is only federal funding. Imagine all the local funding that have been abused as well. I better finish this letter before the power turns off again and again and again.
CUC has a new slogan: “CUC, ruining lives, one customer at a time.”
