’08 Club Elan Beach Volleyball tournament set this August 30

The 2008 Club Elan Beach Volleyball Tournament will be served this Saturday, Aug. 30, at the sand courts of the Hyatt Regency Saipan.
According to Northern Mariana Islands Volleyball Association president Laurie Peterka, the annual four-person co-ed beach volleyball tournament, which started in 2003, will have two divisions—adult four-person co-ed competition and 14-under four-person co-ed competition.
Registration for the adult category of the spike-fest is at 8am with games kicking off an hour later at 9am. Entry fee is $15 for NMIVA members and an extra $5 for non-members.
Those taking part in the 14-under age group, meanwhile, will have to register at 9:30am with games starting at 10:30am. Entry fee is $10 for NMIVA members, while those not affiliated with the sports body need to fork over $15.

All players will receive complimentary usage of Club Elan facilities, that includes the swimming pool, sauna, spa, outdoor Jacuzzi, and locker rooms, as well as assorted food and beverages for taking part in the one-day tourney.
Last year, Hot Rocks and Masmaolek ruled the two divisions of the 2007 Club Elan Four-Person Beach Volleyball Tournament.
Hot Rocks scored an 11-2 rout of Two Attorneys, A Car Guy, And Two Honest Folks in the finals to claim the adults 18-and-over division, while Masmaolek defeated the Teen Titans, 15-11, in the 14-and-under age group.
NMIVA is the CNMI’s umbrella volleyball association covering all aspects of indoor and outdoor games and players. NMIVA is a bona fide current member of FIVB and NMASA.
All of the organization’s fundraisers put money into the development of volleyball in the CNMI. NMIVA is encouraging volleyball enthusiasts to become a member today for a mere $20 a year. Members get regular email updates and discounts on all NMIVA-sanctioned volleyball events throughout the year.
