New basketball league to open next month
The Pilipino Contract Workers Association, Inc. will be holding its Inaugural Inter-Color Basketball League next month at the Century Insurance Center basketball court.
League coordinator Fando Muleta said the league aims to promote physical fitness through basketball, and camaraderie among Filipino workers.
Muleta said they are planning to open the league on Sept. 28
The league will be holding competitions for open and 35-and-above divisions. Games will be held four times a week. There will be two games each every Tuesday and Thursday, while three matches will be played every Saturday and Sunday.
Matches on weekdays will start at 6pm, while weekend games will begin at 3pm.
But schedules are subject to changes depending on the number of teams that will join the inaugural league.
Muleta said the inter-color caging will be the first project of PILCOWA, Inc., a new workers group organization formed early this year. PILCOWA is under the leadership of president Ronnie Doca.
The association is hoping to hold the league every year. Winners in next month’s league will receive trophies, while members of the champion team will be awarded medals.
Entrance fee is $500.
