Gov. Benigno R. Fitial has appointed Efrain F. Camacho as the new acting executive director for the Commonwealth Ports Authority.

Camacho’s appointment came after a three-hour power outage on Thursday at the airport that delayed two flights bound for Korea and Japan and left hundreds of passengers stranded for hours.

In a memorandum issued to all department and activity heads on Aug. 21, Fitial said the delegation of authority to Camacho would remain in effect until such time that a quorum is established with the CPA board of directors.

Fitial also requested department and activity heads to give their full cooperation and assistance to Camacho as he assumes his responsibilities.

Camacho could not be reached for comment yesterday as he was out of the office on important matters.

He replaced former acting executive director Lee Cabrera, who was also unavailable for comment as he was in a meeting.

CPA is currently facing problems like two non-operational back-up generators and the recent resignation of several employees.
