ATM cruises past Aguaguat in makeup game
Autonomous picked up where it left off drubbing Aguaguat, 100-81, in the continuation of their power outage-suspended match in the Inaugural PTI Inter-Government/Business Basketball League Thursday night at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
The Autonomous-Aguguat tiff was played three weeks ago, but was cancelled with four minutes, 38 seconds left in the third quarter when the power went off.
The defending champion was leading Aguaguat, 57-42, when the match was suspended.
In the resumption of the game, both teams had only four players each, but still organizers decided to continue the match.
Bobby Coldeen, who had only eight points when the match was halted, came out with his guns blazing Thursday night, firing 15 markers in the remaining minutes of the game.
Ed Diaz, who did not play in the first three quarters, added 14, while Tim Wesley chipped in seven of his 15 at the resumption of the game.
Everly Pangilinan was the fourth player to suit up for Autonomous in the 4-on-4 game against Aguaguat and contributed eight markers.
Ryan Sablan led Aguaguat’s losing cause, nailing 23 points, but missed the make-up game. Mike Guerrero had 22, while Jason Sablan and Paul Sablan scored 16 apiece.
The game ended in a deadlock after the first quarter, 20-all, with Ryan Sablan holding his ground against Autonomous’ Ponce Rasa. Sablan had nine first-quarter points, while Rasa scored 10.
But Autonomous controlled the game in the second period and took a 14-point halftime lead when Steve Rasa joined the scoring spree and Wesley started hitting his marks.
Steve had 14 points in the second quarter, while Wesley nailed eight.
Ryan Sablan continued to anchor Aguaguat’s offense in the second period, adding 14 points before failing to play in the make-up game. He scored Aguaguat’s last two points before the match was suspended.
