Rep. Raymond D. Palacios has inquired with the Division of Parks and Recreation as to why the renovation project at the Susupe Beach Park has not been pursued.

Palacios reminded Parks and Recreation director Antonio T. Benavente that three months ago, the director stated that he was still waiting for the renovation project design from the Department of Public Works in order to proceed.

In his letter last week to Benavente, Palacios pointed out that his follow up with the project, DPW Secretary Diego B. Songsong informed him that since almost all pavilions have one distinctive design, one at Susupe Beach Park is probably not needed.

“Should this be the case, could you please update me as to when the renovation will commence so that we can restore its beauty back and at the same time, address the safety issues the structures posed because of its dilapidated condition,” the lawmaker told Benavente.

On the issue of dilapidated roads, Palacios and Rep. Oscar M. Babauta asked Songsong to have DPW conduct physical survey of the secondary roads in Chalan Kanoa and Susupe.

The two lawmakers said their constituents continuously launched complaints against their office to effectuate repairs of pot holes arising out of approved paved roads, digging for water, sewer, and other projects.

“Occasionally, we’d tried our best doing these repairs utilizing our employees. Since our office is not in the position to mitigate these problems, hence, we solicit your office’s expertise,” Palacios and Babauta told the DPW secretary.
