Club 200 to begin selling tickets
The 20th annual Red Cross Club 200 ball will be a haunting experience this year.
To coincide with the end of October, the ball will have a Halloween theme, said John Hirsh, executive director for CNMI’s Red Cross Chapter.
“We’ve got some great ideas in store: spider webs, a haunted house, just kind of fun things,” Hirsh said.
The event will be held Oct. 25 from 5pm to 10pm at the Hyatt Regency Saipan.
Guests can dress up for the event, although they are not required to do so, he said.
There will be a costume contest and musician Willie K from Hawaii will perform.
The Red Cross will raffle off $20,000 at the event, an increase of $5,000 from last year’s raffle, to coincide with the 20th anniversary.
“We know people could really use that money in these hard economic times,” Hirsh said.
The Red Cross will begin selling the $100 per person tickets this week. Interested buyers can contact the Red Cross, or talk to one of the many “web of ticket sellers” who will be selling tickets around the island. Tickets can be bought with a credit card, Hirsh said.
Ultimately, Hirsh said, he hopes people remember the event is for a good cause.
“This is our signature fundraiser,” he said. “It’s a critical part of our ability to operate the Red Cross in our community. The American Red Cross doesn’t pay us, we have to pay them to be a part of the network.”
