KSKK excited to tour Saipan
Twenty-one Japanese students ages 8 to 14 arrived yesterday to take part in the 29th annual Kokusai Seiyounen Kensyuu Kyokai exchange program.
The delegation was met at the airport by Saipan Mayor Juan B. Tudela and event organizer/ coordinator Orlika Cabrera Chaudhry, during which they were presented shell leis.
The group then proceeded to the mayor’s office where local families that will be hosting the students picked them up. The students will be staying with these families for eight days.
Many of the students shared what they would like to do on island.
“I like to see the ocean,” said 10-year-old Yui Iwasaki.
“I would love to see sea animals, especially dolphins,” said 9-year-old Eri Miyasita.
Twelve-year-old Jin Kazama said he wants to taste local food.
This is a first visit to the island for all three students.
The children said they were already excited to go sightseeing, said Chaudry, who has been preparing for this event for four years. Chaudry, who volunteers her time to this program, said this will be her last.
KSKK event organizer/ coordinator Tomoki Moriya said he is excited to visit historical Japanese sites, the beautiful beaches, and Banzai Cliff.
The group will start their tour on Monday. They will visit Managaha Island, Pacific Islands Club, Duty Free Galleria, and Suicide and Banzai cliffs.
