The Philippine Consulate General’s Philippine Overseas Labor Office will conduct a home décor plus sewing course for overseas Filipino workers from Aug. 3 to Sept. 21, 2008. Classes will be held for eight Sundays, from 9am to 12pm at the Filipino Workers Resource Center, ground floor of the Marianas Business Plaza in Susupe, Saipan.

Students of the course will learn how to sew bedsheets, curtains, pillow cases, throw pillows, and tissue box covers. In addition, they will be taught how to make headbands and recycle old denim pants into handbags. This entrepreneurial course hopes to provide Filipino workers with an option to engage in business upon their return for good to the Philippines.

OFW applicants need to have basic sewing skills and able to operate a sewing machine to enroll. Those interested and qualified may file their application at POLO.

Registration starts Thursday, July 24, 2008 on a first-come, first-served basis. Only the first 30 applicants will be admitted to this course. Applicants are requested to bring their entry permit or copy of their CNMI labor renewal processing receipt.

Qualified applicants will be asked to attend the orientation session on August 1, 2008, Friday, 6pm at the FWRC.

For inquiries, visit the POLO office at the ground floor of the Marianas Business Plaza or call 235-3411. (PR)
