Casino draws first blood, beats Finance/Shipping

Casino Titans beat Finance/Shipping, 91-71, in Game 1 of the 7th Annual Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino Inter-Departmental Basketball League last Thursday at the staff housing basketball court.

Both teams were evenly matched from the onset as the score was tied 16-16 and 33-33 after the first two quarters of play.

Finance/Shipping made their move in the third and eventually took a modest 60-57 spread heading into the fourth and final quarter.

Casino Titans then began to flex its muscles in the payoff period, led by 6’3” rookie center Ringo Reyes and sharpshooters Dave “Pekto” Ramirez and Elias Camero.

Reyes dominated the inside, while Ramirez and Camera shredded the net from afar by combining for four 3-pointers in the final 10 minutes, as Casino Titans pulled away and won the game with plenty to spare.

Reyes led all scorers with 26 points, while Ramirez was not far behind in production with 25 markers of his own. Camero also chipped in 16 points in the win.

Mike Torregosa and Dennis Espiritu paced Finance/Shipping in the victory with 24 and 15 points, respectively.

In the opener, the Veterans team beat the Rookies/Sophomore squad, 107-91, paced by the 26 points of 2006 MVP Noel Sabordo.
