The final 3:30 of the do-or-die championship game between Ol’Aces and Advance X-Terminators in the Inaugural FMI Inter-Color Basketball League will be played tonight at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

This according to league coordinator Boy Garcia, who said that the game will resume at exactly 6:30pm and would immediately be followed by an awards ceremony.

The third and deciding game for the Inaugural FMI Inter-Color Basketball League’s championship was first played Thursday but a power outage hit the Oleai Sports Complex at around 10:20pm, delaying Ol’Aces’ march to the title as they led 109-96.

Ol’Aces routed Advance X-Terminators in Game 1 last July 10, 129-93, behind the 51 points of scoring machine Freddie Pelisamen.

But the Bug Busters roared right back in Game 2 last July 13, getting 39 points from youngster Jonathan Lim in their 123-114 victory. Advance X-Terminators won despite another 52-point performance from Pelisamen.

Advance X-Terminators were supposed to be the favorites in Game 3 last Thursday with the absence of Ol’Aces’ 6’3” menacing center Abong Camacho, who had to ship off to Guam were he is awaiting redeployment to Iraq.

But Advance X-Terminators’ advantage proved non-existent as it missed the services of the ever-reliable 6’1” Edsel Mendoza in Game 3.

He reportedly was injured while playing for his company, PTI, in the 2008 PTI Inter-Government Business Basketball League the evening before.

And to make matters worse for Advance X-Terminators, Camacho’s replacement, Jack Lizama, proved be yet another headache for the team and godsend for Ol’Aces as the youngster already fired 26 points in Game 3 to complement the 27 of Jericho Cruz and the 40 of Pelisamen.

Aside from the winner of the open division, Garcia and Friends of Mariana Islands will also fete GEC Pawnshop, the champions of the 40-and-over division, tonight.

GEC Pawnshop beat pennant champions Taga Warriors, 102-95, in Game 2 of their own best-of-three finals in the 40-and-over division in last Thursday’s opener. It took Game 1 last July 14 to the tune of 106-96.
