Lt. Gov. Timothy P. Villagomez has withdrawn the appointment of Sixto Igisomar to the NMI Retirement Fund.

On April 2, 2008, Gov. Benigno R. Fitial appointed Igisomar to serve as a member of the Retirement Fund’s board of trustees.

However, Villagomez, in his capacity as acting governor, withdrew the nomination due to technical reasons. The supporting documents were not submitted to the Senate during the 90-day window that the Upper House is given to act on the gubernatorial appointment.

The Executive Branch may still resubmit Igisomar’s name.

Igisomar previously served as chairman of the Commonwealth Development Authority.

The seven-member board of trustees administers the Retirement Fund. Members of the Board of Trustees are appointed by the governor with the consent of the Senate. The law requires the Board’s composition to include three members representing Saipan, one each from Tinian and Rota, one from the Carolinian community, and one representing the women’s interest.
